Record the exact geographic rule
Check whether the call refers to the whole UK, one nation, a local area or a project’s public benefit. Record the language used by the funder rather than reducing every rule to ‘UK’. Ask about recent moves or cross-border collaborations when the guidance does not cover them.
Choose the right applicant
An individual author, translator, publisher and literary organization are not interchangeable. Establish who will hold the award, sign the agreement and deliver the work. Avoid spending time on an individual application to a program intended for publishing companies.
Make the delivery plan readable
Describe the creative output and the work required to reach it. Keep collaborator responsibilities, sample preparation and public activities distinct. Save a personal target date before the official deadline so you have time to check attachments and the application portal.
